2022 Barnett Vineyards Rattlesnake Cabernet Sauvignon | 96 points

The pinnacle of the range at Barnett is the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Rattlesnake Estate Bottled. It's the most concentrated of the various bottlings, accenting black cherries, cassis and raspberry notes with hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings. Full-bodied and firm but approachable, it's a classic mountain Cabernet with two decades of potential longevity.

MMV stands for Mountain Meets Valley. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon MMV blends fruit from Spring Mountain with fruit from Bale Lane to create a plush, full-bodied wine with ample richness and length. Blueberry and cherry fruit notes dominate, picking up hints of dusty earth on the lingering finish.

2022 Barnett Vineyards Cabernet Franc, Spring Mtn. District | 92 points

Barnett's 2022 Cabernet Franc boasts gentle, tea-like herbal nuances set against a backdrop of black cherries, redcurrants and raspberries. There's a lovely, plush mouthfeel to the full-bodied palate, and the finish is supple, marked by hints of dark chocolate and mocha.

2022 Barnett Vineyards Merlot, Spring Mtn. District | 92 points

Bottled just a month prior to my August visit, the 2022 Merlot is largely estate fruit, but it also includes some purchased fruit from the York Creek Vineyard. A steady, reliable bottling, this vintage continues the tradition, offering menthol and sage-inflected black cherries on the nose. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied and supple, finishing long and velvety. Despite the suppleness, there's enough concentration and structure to warrant cellaring for up to a decade.
